““The degree of relentless criticism on this Prime Minister, coming from male commentators, it is probably all subconscious, is sexist and quite ridiculous at times,””— Senator Bob Brown, telling it like it is (via tangara)
Wrong. Conservatives probably criticise Sen. Bob Brown more and he is a man. And before you say they only criticise him because he is gay, in the last 12 months they also criticised Kevin Rudd, Wayne Swan, Craig Thompson, Peter Slipper, Peter Beatie, Peter Garrett, Tim Flannery, Paul Ehrlich and many others.
And the criticism is not just from male commentators either. Here is Miranda Devine on Julia Gillard.
The criticism of Prime Minister Gillard has nothing to do with the fact that she is a woman. It has to do with the fact that people disagree with her policies and believe she has little integrity or competence. If you need some specific examples of these disagreements I offer: The Carbon Tax, The Malaysia Solution for refugees, how she got into power in the first place, how she made a deal with the greens to stay in power, how she broke promises to Andrew Wilkie over pokies reforms, the list goes on.
The degree of relentless criticism has to do with Gillard’s degree of rellentlessly poor politics, not her gender.
